World Eating Disorders Action Day!

It’s here!

Today, June 2nd, 2016 is the first-ever World Eating Disorders Action Day.

The UNC Center of Eating Disorders is proud to be one of the participating organizations sponsoring the day! Over 3000 activists will be contributing throughout the day on social media platforms.

The mission of the World Eating Disorders Action Day is to unite eating disorder activists, professionals, parents/carers and those personally affected to promote worldwide knowledge of eating disorders and the need for comprehensive treatment.

We are proud that the World Eating Disorders Action Day featured the “9 truths about Eating Disorders” in their video based on our founding director, Dr. Cynthia Bulik’s speech given to the National Institute of Mental Health in 2014.

We are also amazed at the generosity of celebrities such as Keanu Reeves, Lily Collins, Marti Noxon, and Retta who donated their time to the powerful video you can see here.

How can you get involved today?

  1. Take the Pledge
  2. Share the Truth about Eating Disorders anywhere you can. Tweet, Post, Pin, or just talk!
  3. Share or retweet the information you see shared today. I’ll be tweeting the facts about eating disorders using #WeDoAct and retweeting @WorldEDday

We have such a long way to go until we can accomplish our goals of improving education, detection, and treatment for these deadly diseases. At times, it’s easy to feel frustrated. But seeing this amazing collection of international activities working across the world towards the same goal inspires me like never before.

We do act! Join us. Take the pledge!
