CBT for bulimia: Outpatient group for teens

The CBT4BN Outpatient Group is a 16 session treatment program offered through the UNC Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders for adolescents struggling with bulimia nervosa (BN).

WHO:        Adolescent females and males struggling with BN

WHEN:      Group treatment will begin late September 2013, with new sessions beginning approximately every 4 months

WHERE:   UNC Medical Center – Conference Room TBA

TIME:        TBA

SCREENING:     All participants will attend a screening assessment with the group therapist and a team psychiatrist to determine their eligibility for the group.

Topics Covered:  What is CBT? The CBT model for BN; The language of CBT; Challenging Automatic Thoughts; Alternative behavior to binge eating and purging, Thought challenging and restructuring; Chaining, Problem solving, and Relapse prevention.
