Congratulations, Dr. Mae Lynn Reyes-Rodriguez!

Dr. Mae Lynn Reyes-Rodriguez, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Eating Disorders Program, has been selected to serve as the Program Chair of Section 6 (Clinical Psychology of Ethnic Minorities) of Division 12 for the 2013 Conference of the American Psychological Association. The conference will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii from July 31st – August 4th, 2013.

“It is an honor for me to be named as the Program Chair of this important Section from Division 12 of APAToday, more than ever, we know about the faster growth of diverse populations in the United States.  As mental health professionals, it is important that we address the issues that are contributing to the health disparities in some races or ethnic groups.  I’m very excited to start working on the Section Program and all of you are invited to the incoming 2013 APA Conference.”  – Dr. Reyes-Rodriguez

According to the division’s website, Section 6  “was established to promote research on clinical interventions with American racial and ethnic minority populations; to foster sensitivity to cultural, racial, and ethnic issues in the training of all psychologists; to increase the quality and accessibility of training opportunities for minority clinical psychologists; to enhance the representation of minority psychologists with Division 12 and APA governance; and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas on socio-cultural issues.”

We extend enthusiastic congratulations Dr. Reyes-Rodriguez!
