On 25 July 2010, Dr. Jenn Dackor was inducted into the Order of the Chocolate Fish. This award is given to a staff or faculty member who went above and beyond the call of duty in her or his dedication to work with the Eating Disorders Program. Although many people in the Eating Disorders Program have never met her, her name is a household word. Jenn is our primary contact in the Sullivan Lab http://sullivanlab.unc.edu/about.php and has been the mastermind behind the global coordination of the Genetics Consortium for Anorexia Nervosa study. Jenn, who has been the lab manager in the Sullivan lab for the past three years, has a PhD in Genetics, but is clearly also skilled in global diplomacy. Her work on GCAN has involved coordinating DNA samples from over 15 countries, making sure they arrive safely in North Carolina, conducting quality control on the samples, and then making sure they get sent safely to the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in London for genotyping. Without Jenn’s diplomatic and laboratory skills, GCAN would never have succeeded. So, Welcome Jenn to the Order of the Chocolate Fish! You join a distinguished list of UNC Eating Disorders staff who have gone the extra mile to elevate the UNC Eating Disorders Program. We wish you all the best in your next adventures.
